Dr. Thomas Wojciechowski at Siesta Key Beach in Florida.
As a former hockey player and avid fan, Dr. Thomas Wojciechowski knows the success that comes from working as a team. Now a hospitalist at Akron Children’s Hospital Beeghly campus, Dr. Wojciechowski sees first-hand how patients benefit from a team approach to caring. By working in tandem with pediatricians and specialists, Dr. Wojciechowski helps provide the best care possible to hospitalized patients who otherwise can’t be seen by their pediatrician.
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
A: As I get older, snow isn’t much fun anymore so I want to be near a beach on the ocean. I’d like to live on the U.S. Virgin Island of St Thomas.
Q: If you could choose your age forever, what age would it be and why?
A: 40 because I felt like I could still do some of the physical things I did when I was younger, but had more life experience which made me wiser.

Dr. Wojciechowski enjoys taekwondo and has been learning for a little over a year.
Q: If you could be a character in a movie, which movie would it be and why?
A: Ferris Bueller in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off because he had a great day off and nothing went wrong for him. A close second would be James Bond; I’m a big fan of any James Bond movie.
Q: What song do you know all the words by heart?
A: None. But, I love the music of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, especially Classic Rock.
Q: What piece of advice did someone give you when you were young that still resonates with you today?
A: The Golden Rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I live by it every day.
Q: What’s your most treasured possession?
A: My Woody Hayes autographed football.
Q: If you could invite anyone to dinner, who would it be and why?
A: My maternal grandfather. He died about 4 months before I was born. One of my wishes is to have met him.
Q: What was your first concert?
A: The Beach Boys as a teenager with my dad and younger sister.
Q: What was your first paying job?
A: I was a college student employee at the Bowling Green State University Ice Arena. I even learned how to drive a Zamboni (the machine used to clean and smooth the ice rink).

Q: What is your greatest achievement?
A: Becoming a physician. My greatest sports achievement was being a member of the 1984 Ohio High School State Championship Hockey Team.
Q: Why did you choose to come to Akron Children’s?
A: I was a resident physician at Akron Children’s Hospital from 1994-97. It was a great place to learn and work at then and still is today. Everyone has been welcoming, friendly and supportive.
