Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. Describe an overview of the epidemiology of suicide in children and adolescents and identify risk factors and protective factors. 2. Recognize warning signs and assess risk for suicide in children and adolescents. 3. List evidence-based treatments to decrease suicide attempts in children and adolescents and referral resources.

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists and nurses

Identified Gap:

Improved methods of recognizing and treating children and adolescents at risk for suicide.

Method of Physician Participation in the Learning Process:

The learner will view the presentation, successfully complete a post-test and complete an activity evaluation.

Evaluation Methods:

All learners must successfully complete a post-test, as well as an activity evaluation, to claim CME credit.
