Grand Rounds: My Patient Needs a Lawyer: Using the Medical-Legal Partnership to Mitigate Health-Harming Legal Needs

Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. Explain the impact of social determinants of health. 2. Identify screening tools used to recognize unmet legal needs in patient populations. 3. Determine the role of a legal aid attorney as a member of the health care team. 4. Describe past successes and discuss future direction of the medical-legal partnership at Akron Children’s Hospital

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Societal factors requiring legal help impact health. The ability to navigate this can be overwhelming for physicians to understand.

The learner will view the presentation, successfully complete a post-test and complete an activity evaluation.
