Center for Treatment of Adverse Childhood Events

With the award of a four-year, $1.6 million federal grant, Akron Children’s Hospital has created the Center for the Treatment and Study of Adverse Childhood Events to provide leadership, training and consultative services for childhood traumatic stress in northeast Ohio.

Akron Children’s is the only organization in Ohio to receive the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) Grant.

The grant allows the hospital to join a national network of more than 130 child trauma centers that address a range of traumatic experiences, including physical and sexual abuse; life-threatening illness or injury; and domestic, school and community violence; natural disasters and terrorism.
