Akron Children's Sports Medicine program is part of the Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, which features a physical therapy and rehabilitation center with treadmills, elliptical and step machines, stationary bikes, free weights and weight machines.
Our sports medicine team includes doctors, athletic trainers, physical therapists, nurse practitioners and dietitians. We work together to diagnose and treat sports and activity-related injuries, as well as to counsel patients on proper nutrition and training practices to prevent injury.
We also work closely with our orthopedic surgeons when sports rehab isn't enough.

Akron Children's Hospital is an affiliate organization with the American Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and its Sports Trauma and Overuse Prevention (STOP) campaign. The STOP campaign educates athletes, parents, athletic trainers, coaches and healthcare providers about the rapid increase in youth sports injuries, the necessary steps to help reverse the trend, and the need to keep young athletes healthy.
