Akron Children's Hospital's Reinberger Family Center will celebrate its fifth anniversary of providing a place of comfort and relaxation for our patient families this April.
The center, which is located near the neonatal intensive care unit, opened in 2008 as a place where family members can find rest, relax or escape.
“Families can get away from the clinical side of the hospital,” said Cindy Duncan, supervisor of the center. “They can enjoy a coffee break or meals in the kitchen, watch television, take a shower or request a nap during the day.”
Nearly 97,000 guests have used the center’s facilities and services since it opened.
“The center is definitely a stress reliever for families and an important addition to this hospital,” said Duncan. “Nurses care for our patients, and we care for the patients’ families.
Take a look at some of the countless ways the Reinberger Family Center has helped our patient families and employees during its first five years.
