In this year’s TV campaign, we’ve turned the camera on our doctors, so you can see how intensely they care for every child – and family – they treat.
One of these doctors is Grace Smith. She’s a pediatric cardiologist at Akron Children’s Hospital and associate director of our Pediatric Arrhythmia Center. Dr. Smith fixes rapid heart beats using cardiac ablations, a technique that corrects or eliminates abnormal electrical pathways with a cold-tipped catheter. Preferring to cure abnormal heart rhythms rather than rely on medications, Dr. Smith recommends cardiac ablations as the primary therapy for children ages 5 and older with rapid heart rates. She also recommends ablation therapy for children younger than 5 if other treatments aren't working.
Dr. Smith also takes the time to get to know her patients and their families, who often send photos and more long after their child has recovered.
