Words cannot fully express the gratitude that we feel for Akron Children's partial hospitalization program (PHP). My daughter, Emily, was a PHP patient twice this past year and it was the program that brought her through the storm of depression (and bipolar II).
This spring, Emily graduated Salutatorian of her high school class. The only A- she received was in her sophomore year for gym. That means that through this very tough last year she maintained an A average.
I tell you this not to brag but to say that even through deep depression and multiple hospitalizations, Emily's drive to stay connected to her studies was strong and PHP made it possible to "stay in school" through the tutor program.
We are grateful.
We're also thankful for PHP's family sessions. They were invaluable and truly made a difference in our family.
