We are nearing the end of construction for our Expressive Therapy Center – just another week of carpet-laying and then we can start moving our equipment in. We are very grateful to the architectural/construction building team. They have really made the project appear seamless and have been fun to work with.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of going on “rounds” with some members of the Akron Children's Hospital Foundation and renowned jazz guitarist Russell Malone to visit some of the children in their rooms. Patients, families and staff alike enjoyed his groovy playing. One young man on the 6th floor even received a jazzy version of happy birthday to celebrate his special day. Russell signed autographs and concluded his day by playing an impromptu concert in the hospital atrium.
Tonight he will perform a concert benefitting Akron Children’s Hospital at the Akron Public Library. We sincerely thank Russell for his willingness to spread joy through jazz!
