Akron Childrens Hospital was my very first employer as a new registered nurse in 1988. I came to this hospital excited to learn and ready to soak up all the new things I could retain. I was given assignment to 5 West- Adolescent chronic illness and psychiatric area. I learned so much under the supervision of Laura Randal on this unit. It was the most rewarding experience for me as a new graduate from Kent State University.
I then ventured to the Emergency Department under the direction of Sam Davidson, Georgia Anthony and Lynn Fendenheim, who also were amazing managers to learn from. I created friendships and broadened my nursing knowledge every day that I came to work. I enjoyed working at this hospital as did most of the staff I was in contact with. We were like a family who LOVED what we were doing.
Akron Children's is a top notch medical facility that any family can be confident in bringing their children to this hospital. Employees at Children's love their job AND do it well! I am proud to say that I had the Akron Children's Hospital experience. It was amazing.
