Kids can make resolutions too

2012-02-07 14:05:38 by Andrea Joliet, Assistant Director, Interactive Marketing & PR, as posted on the inside.akronchildrens.org blog.

Should you encourage your children to make New Year's resolutions? Do young children even understand what it means to make  resolutions? What's my role as a parent in this process?

These are just a few questions answered by pediatric psychologist Georgette Constantinou, PhD, director of the Akron Children's Hospital Department of Psychiatry and Psychology.

Constantinou says that while many New Year's resolutions fall by the wayside shortly after the ball drops, the goal setting skills they can teach children and young adults could last a lifetime.
