My beautiful and strong miracle baby

Kennedy Davis and her fiance

I went to Fort Jackson from Ohio to go to my fiance's graduation at basic training. I was 21 weeks pregnant. The night we came back I was having really bad pains, but I ignored them because I didn't want to feel guilty for waking my mom up to take me to the triage.

I couldn't go to sleep at all and I was having a hard time breathing. When I woke up I had an unbearable pain. I was bleeding a lot. I was very scared. The ambulance was called and my water broke before their arrival.

The only thing I could think was... miscarriage?

On my way to them pushing me to the triage I felt a movement. At that moment I knew he was still alive. I had to stay on bed rest to hold him in as long as I could.

They told me that his life wouldn't be viable at 22 weeks, that I would at least have to make it past 23 weeks. I made it to 24.

He was so tiny. I didn't think he was gonna make it, but I had to have faith.

Today he's 3 months old and strong. He can breath on his own, he can eat on his own, he cries. He is so handsome and truly a blessing.

We have been in Akron Children's NICU since August. The hospital is very supportive and explained everything I needed to know. I love how you can visit whenever. The nurses and doctors were very kind and they put my mind at ease when I was worried.
