Program Goals

Mission

Akron Children's Hospital's Radiography School is a comprehensive, 2-year course whose purpose is to provide the student radiographer with a high quality, customer-service focused, competency-based didactic and clinical education.

Our program serves primarily a 5-county region in northeast Ohio and prepares students to become entry-level diagnostic radiographers as members of the paramedical team for the overall care of the patient. Our program also includes introductory education for the advanced radiologic modalities and instills lifelong learning values that help students achieve their professional and personal goals.

Program Goals

The program implements this mission through clearly defined program goals and learning outcomes that meet and/or exceed the Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiologic Sciences through the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

Akron Children's Radiography School follows the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) curriculum guide in the presentation of the radiography content.

Well-supervised clinical rotations through all phases of the curriculum provide students the practical foundation to meet the job demands as an entry level radiographer.

Our goals are to ensure students:
