(This procedure/test may also be known as: Stress Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Test, Cardiac Stress Test)
There are two main types of stress tests: Stress echocardiography and exercise stress tests. A stress echo uses ultrasound imaging to determine how the heart muscles respond to stress. It is mainly used to diagnose and evaluate coronary artery disease. This test differs from an exercise stress test, which does not use ultrasound images. Your child will exercise or be given medicine until he reaches the target heart rate. This helps reveal how his heart works when he is active.
