(This procedure/test may also be known as: Percutaneous Nephrostomy)

A percutaneous nephrostomy is the placement of a small, flexible rubber catheter (tube) through your skin into your kidney to drain your urine. It is performed when there is blockage or obstruction in the part of the urinary tract draining the urine between the kidneys and bladder.
