Procedures & Tests - Ear Tube Surgery

(This procedure/test may also be known as: myringotomy)

During ear tube surgery, the surgeon creates a tiny hole in the eardrum and inserts pressure-equalizing tubes (PE tubes) in the tiny hole so air can enter the middle ear to allow ventilation, aid fluid drainage and restore normal hearing. It is usually performed on an outpatient basis.
