Procedures & Tests - Chorionic Villus Sampling

(This procedure/test may also be known as: CVS)

Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) may be performed during weeks 11-14. This test involves the removal of a small piece of placenta tissue (chorionic villi) from the uterus during early pregnancy to screen the baby for genetic defects. There are 2 ways to perform CVS:
