Nuchal translucency is an advanced ultrasound procedure that measures the thickness in the neck region of the fetus. Increased thickness could indicate a greater than average risk for some birth defects and certain chromosomal abnormalities, such as Down syndrome and Trisomy 18. NT can be done as early as 11 weeks of pregnancy.
