Akron Children's pediatric residency program offers the following salary and benefits to house officers:
(Effective July 1, 2014)
House officers are granted 3 weeks vacation or 15 customary working days.
House officers are not granted conference time during their first year of residency. After the first year, residents are entitled to 5 days of conference time each year for medical conventions and courses outside the hospital.
The educational allowance is intended for use toward medical related journals, books or conferences.
|PL-II and PL-III||$1,200|
|PL-IV, PL-V and PL-VI||$1,500|
Residents and their dependents can enroll in Akron Children’s health and dental insurance programs, the cost of which is shared between the resident and hospital. Short- and long-term disability benefits are provided.
Akron Children's provides professional liability insurance.
Each house officer is provided with a key access card for convenient parking at no charge.
Three embroidered lab coats are provided.
Residents are provided with $120 every 2 weeks.
Akron Children's provides PL-1 pediatric residents reimbursement for initial relocation expenses up to $1,000. This benefit is subject to current tax laws.
Akron Children's is a tobacco-free healthcare system. Prospective employees who test positive for nicotine will have their offer of employment rescinded and will not be permitted to start working.
