How to Apply for Pediatric Residency

Akron Children’s Hospital accepts only categorical pediatric residents.

Applicants must submit their application through Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) no  later than Nov. 30.  Paper applications will not be accepted.

Interviews will be conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October through December and on the first three Fridays in November.

Requirements for an interview include

Applicants must be no more than one year out of medical school by the beginning of residency. Exceptions will be made for residents who are transferring into our program after having begun or completed a residency program elsewhere.

Applicants must have never been placed on probation during medical school, in a residency or fellowship program, or during the practice of medicine.

All of the above information must be submitted before an application can be reviewed.  In addition, all interviews are by invitation.  If you have been selected, we will contact you using the information on your application.  

Prospective employees (including residents) who test positive for nicotine will have their offer of employment rescinded and will not be permitted to start working.

Akron Children's requires that all applicants must have passed parts I and II, including CS, of their respective boards prior to starting residency.
