Akron Children's Nursing Research Center mentors and supports nurses in their quest to design and conduct investigations that contribute to nursing science and informs evidence-based, patient-centered best practices. This model facilitates a shift from customary nursing practice, often rooted in tradition, to nursing practice supported by science.
To foster clinical inquiry, we tailor our methods and coaching to meet individual needs of nurses at the novice, intermediary or expert level of research expertise. The center accomplishes this by providing nurse scientists ample educational experiences to enrich their understanding of the characteristics of rigorous scientific inquiry:
Nurse researchers with promising topics can consult with any institute research specialist for guidance and support in designing and conducting the research study.
Established in 2009, our nurse scholar program motivates and prepares nurses to contribute to Akron Children's research mission while enhancing their own career growth. After completing six months of concentrated coursework, selected participants must complete a proposed research study within one year after their formal training.
Through their discoveries and innovations, our nurse scholars gain the knowledge and empirical evidence to improve patient care by contributing to growth of nursing science.
We rely on your generosity to provide quality medical care to every child who needs us.
