Akron Children’s Hospital has hired pediatric surgeons Oliver Soldes, MD, and Todd Ponsky, MD. They will join Robert Parry, MD, and Mark McCollum, MD, in Akron Children's Pediatric General Surgery Center.
Before joining Akron Children’s, Dr. Soldes was a pediatric surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as co-director of Minimally-Invasive Pediatric Surgery. He earned his medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, R.I., and completed his general surgery residency and a fellowship in surgical critical care/ECMO at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor. He completed a second fellowship in pediatric surgery at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Ponsky comes from University Hospitals' Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, where he served as director of its Center of Minimally Invasive Pediatric Surgery. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and completed his general surgery residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He then went onto complete his fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children’s National Medical Center, also in Washington D.C.
Drs. Soldes and Ponsky accept all major insurance plans and Medicaid.
Akron Children’s Surgical Services department performs more than 15,000 pediatric surgical procedures each year, more than any other hospital in northeast Ohio. In addition to the physicians in Akron Children's Pediatric General Surgery Center, there are three additional pediatric general surgeons as well as a number of subspecialty surgeons on the hospital's medical staff.
