Summer is a good time to work on writing, school skills

06-29-2010

Do you have concerns about your child’s handwriting? Does he or she have trouble with shoe tying, drawing and other fine motor skills?

Akron Children’s Hospital is offering a Summer Occupational Therapy Program now through August for school-age children who could benefit from weekly, individual therapy sessions.

“The school year is so busy for children and we have found summer to be a great time to address concerns that parents, teachers and physicians may have about a child’s fine motor skills,” says Mona True, director of Occupational Therapy for Akron Children’s.

The program is based on medical need so children will require a prescription from their pediatrician or primary care physician to receive an evaluation and enter the program.
