The second annual “Miracles and Promises” Radiothon raised $149,840 for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
The radiothon was broadcast live on Mix 98.9 and 570 WKBN from the hospital’s Beeghly campus Thursday, Sept. 23 through Saturday, Sept. 25. It featured stories about local patients who have received services from Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and spotlighted Mahoning Valley services and programs.
One hundred percent of the funds raised during the “Miracles and Promises” Radiothon will stay in the Mahoning Valley to benefit local children and families.
Hundreds of children and families also attended the Children’s FunFest, which was held In conjunction with the radiothon, at the Akron Children’s Beeghly campus from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The Children’s FunFest included health screenings, face painting, a Teddy Bear Clinic, a scavenger hunt, craft and coloring stations, Bounce Around, visits from area mascots, games, prizes, and food, plus dance and cheerleading demonstrations.
More than 400 of volunteers participated in the effort by staffing the phone banks and helping with Children’s FunFest activities.
“We are thrilled with the results of this year’s Radiothon and thank the Mahoning Valley for their outstanding support,” said JoAnn Stock, Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley director of Development.
