Prince and princess event raises funds for MV

Corey Hanley and Lille Zoldan helped raise more than $3,100 for Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley.

The second annual Prince and Princess Event raised $3,106 for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. Princess Lille Zoldan, 6, daughter of Neal and Lesa Zoldan of New Springfield, and Prince Cordell “Corey” Hanley, 5, son of Larry and Michelle Hanley of New Springfield, presented a check for the proceeds from the event to hospital representatives on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

During the month of July, contestants raised funds for the hospital by conducting a variety of fundraising activities including selling lemonade, garage sales, neighborhood carnivals and other creative ideas. The contestants who raised the most money were crowned “Prince and Princess of New Middletown” and served as grand marshals during the New Middletown National Night Out parade, on Aug. 2.

During their reign, the prince and princess will be making other public appearances throughout the community. The event was coordinated by Kerri Bernard, Connie Brinker and Melissa Guzman, all of the Hair Galleria in New Middletown.
