AKRON, Ohio (June 19, 2013) –The Women’s Board of Akron Children’s Hospital recently celebrated its newest and longest-serving members at a luncheon on June 11 at Portage Country Club.
The newest members to join the Women’s Board are: Tina Buehrle and Susie Dix of West Akron, Erin Grosenbaugh of Copley and Colleen Reiner of Richfield.
Additionally, the Women’s Board celebrated its members who have served on the board for 25 to 30 years including: Mary Briggs, 30 years; Lois Gerstenmaier, 29 years; Karen Silver, 28 years; Joyce Hamaker and Susan Weiss, 27 years; Cathy Clark, 26 years; and Rochelle Stone, 25 years.
Since the hospital’s opening in 1890, the Women’s Board has played an integral role in Akron Children’s growth and development. Currently, there are 74 active members who give of their time in support of the hospital’s mission through such activities as running the hospital’s gift shop, supporting the hospital’s legislative and advocacy efforts and holding the annual Charity Ball each December. The Women’s Board also hosts a volunteer luncheon each year to honor all the volunteers at Akron Children’s Hospital.
