Akron Children’s to host free car seat check to promote safety

In a study observing the misuse of 3,442 child restraint systems, approximately 73 percent of car seats showed at least one critical misuse, according to Safe Kids USA. To reduce this number and promote child passenger safety, technicians from Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and Safe Kids Mahoning Valley will provide a free car seat check.

“Child restraints and seat belts, when installed and used properly, can prevent injuries and save lives,” explains Gia Ramsey, injury prevention specialist, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. “Having a securely installed car seat is a great first step towards keeping your kids safe while in the car.”

Child safety seat guidelines are frequently updated based on continuous safety studies. Technicians will be available to discuss these guidelines and provide literature.
