“Miracles and Promises” Radiothon starts

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will be hosting the fifth annual “Miracles and Promises” Radiothon on the Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market Street in Boardman on Wednesday, September 18 thru Friday, September 20. The radiothon will be broadcast live on Mix 98.9 and 570 WKBN from the lobby of Building D from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day.

The radiothon will feature stories about local patients who have received services from Akron Children’s Hospital and will spotlight Mahoning Valley services and programs. One hundred percent of the funds raised during the “Miracles and Promises” Radiothon will stay in the Mahoning Valley to benefit local children and families. Donors can call 1-888-746-9890 at anytime during the radiothon to make a pledge, or they can donate online at

“It is Akron Children’s promise that no child is turned away for any reason, including their family’s inability to pay and we believe that every child has the right to world-class medical care in a family-centered environment,” said JoAnn Stock, Akron Children’s Director of Development. “Through the support of the “Miracles and Promises” Radiothon, donors can help to provide this quality care to children and families in the Mahoning Valley,” she added.

Stock said, “Not only is the Radiothon our largest fundraising event of the year, but through 36 hours of radio time, it provides us with a wonderful opportunity to feature stories about our programs, physicians, and the many local families who have been helped by the programs and services of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.”

In the first four years, the Radiothon has raised over $540,000 to support Mahoning Valley programs and services.
