Akron Children’s and Safe Kids to host bike safety event

Boardman, Ohio (May 5, 2014)—Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and Safe Kids will host a Bike Rodeo & Safety Event on May 17. The free program will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Masters Pavilion and adjacent parking lot (Southern Blvd.) at Boardman Park.

The event will teach kids and parents about safe bicycle riding, and includes a safety course for children ages 4-9. Bicycle maintenance professionals will be on hand to provide inspections and helmet fittings. The program also features helmet decorating, a coloring contest, Quaker Steak and Lube, Boardman tasting and coupons, and goodie bags with Dairy Queen coupons.  All children must bring a bicycle to participate, and parents/guardians are required to be present. Participants who register early will be entered in a drawing to win a helmet and bike lock.

“This is a fun event and a great opportunity to educate kids and parents how to stay safe while riding,” says Gia Ramsey, injury prevention coalition coordinator, Safe Kids Mahoning Valley at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.

To register, call 330-729-9254.
