Akron Children’s and Mahoning County Children’s Services to host Pinwheels for Prevention event

To honor Child Abuse Prevention Month, Akron Children’s Child Advocacy Center and Mahoning County Children Services, will host the 9th annual Pinwheels for Prevention. The keynote speaker will be Sharon Hrina, vice president of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, with remarks by Randy Muth, executive director of Mahoning County Children’s Services. The Boardman High School Jazz Band will provide entertainment.

In addition, 1,377 pinwheels will be placed on Akron Children’s Hospital’s Beeghly campus in Boardman on Monday, April 1 at 12 p.m. Each pinwheel represents a child who received abuse services in Mahoning County in 2013. The pinwheels are also a reminder to those who pass the campus that everyone plays a role in preventing child abuse and neglect.
