Three promoted at Akron Children’s Hospital

Akron Children’s Hospital announces three employee promotions.

Beth Smith has been named vice president for Marketing and Public Relations.

 Smith joined the hospital in 2007 as director of Marketing and Public Relations. Prior to that, she served as director of institutional marketing at the University of Akron for eight years, and vice president of Wirtz Integrated Marketing. She oversees the hospital’s advertising, marketing, and public relations programs, as well its call center,  Ask Children’s, and the hospital’s physician liaison service.  She is a board member of the Blick Clinic and the Great Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Smith resides in West Akron and is a native of Massillon.

Three promoted at Akron Children’s Hospital

Craig McGee

Craig McGee has been named vice president for Surgical Subspecialties, the Heart Center and NeuroDevelopmental Science Center.

McGee joined Akron Children’s in 2009 as an administrative director and has overseen orthopedics, ophthalmology and pediatric surgery. He has served as interim vice president of Surgical Subspecialties since August. He is a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer and has more than 19 years of experience in health care and health care administration at facilities such as Shriners Hospitals for Children in Florida and Pennsylvania. He is board certified in Healthcare Management and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2007.

McGee resides in Independence and is a native of Topeka, Kansas.

Anne Musitano

Anne Musitano

Anne Musitano has been named administrative director of the Mark A. Watson Center for Operations Excellence.

Musitano was a pharmacist and manager of Akron Children’s outpatient pharmacy when Akron Children’s began its Lean Six Sigma program and created a new center devoted to operational excellence in 2008. She became a deployment director in the center, oversaw key process improvement projects and developed the center’s Blue Belt program for hospital leadership.

Musitano resides in Akron and is a native of Cuyahoga Falls.
