Boardman, Ohio (June 22, 2010) – On Wednesday, June 23 at 10 a.m., Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will conduct a ceremony to break ground for construction of the Children’s “Garden of Hope” which will be located on the Hospital’s Beeghly Campus located at 6505 Market Street in Boardman.
This unique project, nestled in a highly visible, yet, enclosed courtyard area adjacent to the registration lobby in Building B, will provide patients, their families and others a comforting place to visit, reflect, heal and find solace in a lovely, tranquil environment. To be fully funded through philanthropic donations, the Garden of Hope will be interspersed with a stone patio, a serene waterfall, teak benches, lush landscaping and beautiful sculptures. The patio area in the Garden of Hope will be lined with personalized, engraved pavers designed to remember individuals and families. Each paver will be inscribed as the donor wishes, in honor, in celebration, or in memory of a special child or other loved one, or to symbolize grateful thanks from patients and families for care received. Initial funding for the project was provided through a grant from the Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance as well as a gift from V & M Star.
Medium pavers are available for $150 each. Each medium paver is 7” x 8” and contains four lines with up to eleven characters per line. Large pavers (14” x 8”) are available for $300 each and contain four lines with up to eighteen characters per line. Additional naming opportunities, including trees, benches and statuary are available by calling JoAnn Stock, Director of Development at 330.746.9122 or visiting www.akronchildrens.org/mv.
