Lisa Aurilio has been named vice president for patient services and chief nursing officer at Akron Children’s Hospital, effective June 7.
Aurilio, a nursing director at Akron Children’s since 2004, succeeds Grace Wakulchik, who has been named chief operating officer for the hospital system.
In her current position as director of Critical Care Services, Aurilio has been responsible for the care of patients in Akron Children’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatric Intensive Care units, and three additional Level II nurseries in Northeast Ohio.
Prior to joining Akron Children’s, Aurilio was a senior consultant in the health services division of Cap Gemini Ernst and Young in Cleveland. She also worked for University Hospitals of Cleveland from 1987 to 2003, holding various managerial positions at the University MacDonald Women’s Hospital.
Aurilio earned her bachelor and master of science in nursing from Kent State University, and she is currently enrolled in the Executive Masters in Business Administration program at Kent State. Last October, she received the “Distinguished Alumni Award” from Kent State’s College of Nursing.
Aurilio grew up in Girard and currently resides in Twinsburg.
