AKRON, Ohio (Feb. 14, 2011)—The 2011 “Have a Heart, Do Your Part” Radiothon raised $445,360.60 for Akron Children’s Hospital. The annual event, which is presented by 98.1 WKDD, took place Feb. 11-13.
“We are so grateful for the continued support of our community that makes the Radiothon such a success,” said Nicci Avalon, Children’s Miracle Network program manager at Akron Children’s. “We cannot thank our Change Bandits, listeners, volunteers and sponsors enough for their help.”
As of today, 438 of the 613 registered Change Bandits collected $156,125.07 of the $445,360.60 raised during this year’s event. Prizes were awarded to the top Change Bandits in the following categories at the Change Bandit Bash, which kicked off radiothon weekend on Feb. 10:
• Top Individual: Mike Daugherty, Akron
• Top School/Organization: Sauder Elementary, Massillon
• Small companies with fewer than 100 employees: CSE Credit Union
• Large companies with more than 100 employees: Charles Schwab
Since it began in 2000, the “Have a Heart, Do Your Part” Radiothon has raised nearly $7 million for the patient care, education and research efforts at Akron Children’s Hospital.
The 2011 “Have a Heart, Do Your Part” Radiothon was sponsored by FedEx Custom Critical and Klaben Auto Stores. The Change Bandits were sponsored in part by Charles Schwab.
