Akron Children’s Hospital recognized as one of “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare”

Becker’s Healthcare has selected Akron Children’s Hospital as one of its "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" for 2014. Through nominations and research, Becker’s chose 150 organizations for their robust benefits, wellness initiatives, commitment to diversity and inclusion, professional development opportunities and work environments that promote employee satisfaction and work-life balance.

“For nearly 125 years, our employees have dedicated themselves to Akron Children’s mission of providing exemplary patient care for children and their families,” said Walt Schwoeble, vice president, human resources. “We couldn’t provide the high-quality patient care that we do every day without them, so it’s important that we nurture a work environment that is positive, rewarding, supportive and fulfilling.”

Akron Children’s was recognized for providing employees with up to $5,250 annually in financial support for participation in formal education programs, along with a college savings plan and discounts for hospital services. Also highlighted was its Sick Child Care Center on the hospital campus for mildly ill children to stay while their parents are working.

In addition to the Becker’s award, Children’s has been honored by the Employers Resource Council as one of the top 99 workplaces in northeast Ohio and by the American Heart Association as a fit-friendly workplace.
