Barnes & Noble conducts holiday book drive to benefit Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley

Barnes & Noble, located at the Shops at Boardman Park, 381 Boardman-Poland Road, will be collecting books for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley now through Jan. 1, 2012.

Barnes & Noble stores across the country invite customers to give the gift of reading to children in need during its annual Holiday Book Drive. The book drive provides an opportunity for customers to donate books purchased at the store to locally designated non-profit organizations.

“The Holiday Book Drive is one of our most popular community partnerships,” said Sarah DiFrancesco, director of community relations for Barnes & Noble. “Our booksellers and customers get to share the pure joy of giving a book to a child in need. Because each Barnes & Noble store chooses its local non-profit beneficiary, the donations are very personal."

“We are so grateful that Barnes & Noble has selected us as the beneficiary of this year’s book drive,” said JoAnn Stock, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley director of development. “The books will be distributed to patients in our Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders, Emergency Department, and pediatric subspecialty office, as well as to the patients in our inpatient units.”
