Akron Children’s Hospital and Aultman Hospital announced today that they have signed a letter of intent for Akron Children’s to operate the inpatient pediatric unit at Aultman.
This new agreement expands on the hospitals’ 5-year collaboration that includes outpatient pediatric subspecialty services from Akron Children’s on the Aultman campus for families in Stark, Carroll, Holmes, Wayne and Tuscarawas counties.
“Our mission and values are so similar, we’re confident this agreement will be good for Children’s, good for Aultman and, most importantly, good for the community,” said Shawn Lyden, Akron Children’s executive vice president. "We are committed to offering the latest advances in pediatric care and technology to children in facilities that are close to their family and friends."
By working together, Aultman and Akron Children’s will be able to offer comprehensive pediatric inpatient, outpatient and subspecialty care close to home.
“Aultman has been providing exceptional care to the pediatric patients in our community since 1958. We are excited to enhance the quality of pediatric care and further develop our collaboration with Akron Children’s,” said Ed Roth, president and CEO of Aultman Health Foundation. “It allows Aultman to bring comprehensive, high-quality health care to everyone in our community: from newborns to seniors.”
The hospitals hope to finalize the agreement soon. In the meantime, Aultman will continue to operate its inpatient pediatric unit without any changes.
