Akron Children’s Hospital received its fourth consecutive gold for Best Web 2.0 from the 2010 eHealthcare Leadership Awards. The Best Web 2.0 award is based on an organization’s focus on video, podcasts and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
“A substantial number of organizations have made major improvements in their websites to better serve current and future customers,” said Mark Gothberg, eHealthcare Leadership Awards chairman. “Organizations are also embracing social networking, including blogs, Facebook, and Twitter, to reach consumers in new ways and generate business.”
Sites receiving the 2010 eHealthcare Leadership Awards were selected from nearly 1,300 entries. Akron Children’s received the only gold in its division (hospitals with 200-399 beds).
“We’re very pleased to be recognized for our social media efforts,” said Andrea Joliet, assistant director of interactive marketing at Akron Children’s. “Competition was especially strong among large hospital/health care systems and managed care sites.”
