The Akron and Canton-area Panera Bread bakery-cafes named Akron Children’s Hospital as the recipient of their local Operation Dough-nation program. The year-long campaign is expected to raise approximately $18,000 for the hospital.
The Operation Dough-Nation campaign is a nationwide program for Panera Bread where the bakery-cafes have Community Bread Boxes located near each register. All cash donations collected in the bakery-cafes in the Akron and Canton area will support the Emily Cooper Welty Expressive Therapy Center at Akron Children’s Hospital.
“Our Akron and Canton area bakery-cafes are honored to support Akron Children’s Hospital, which provides great care to many children within the Northeast Ohio region,” said Sam Covelli, Owner/Operator of Covelli Enterprises. “At Panera Bread, we strongly believe in giving back to the communities in which we reside.”
“We are extremely grateful for the support of Panera Bread and its customers and are thrilled to be chosen as the recipient of Operation Dough-nation,” said Pam Holtz, director of annual giving at Akron Children’s Hospital. “Panera Bread has chosen to designate these funds to support the Akron Children’s Emily Cooper Welty Expressive Therapy Center, a program that is funded entirely through the generosity of community organizations and individuals. The Expressive Therapy Center encourages children to use various forms of art to deal with illness, cope with emotions and find comfort, while bringing families together during a child’s hospital stay.”
The Operation Dough-Nation program will take place at the 10 Panera Bread locations in Akron and Canton including: Akron, Belden Village, Chapel Hill, Fairlawn, Hudson, Massillon, Medina, Montrose, North Canton and Stow. For more information, visit www.panerabread.com/about/community/.
