Akron Children’s adds injury prevention educator

Rebecca Dean has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as an injury prevention educator.

Dean’s primary role is to educate parents about child passenger safety through the Safe Kids Coalition’s discount car seat program at Akron Children’s Hospital.

The discount car seat program is available to families who are income eligible and have been referred from one of 15 agencies in the community. In addition to receiving a car seat at a discounted price, parents are taught how to properly install the seat in their car.

Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and the Akron Community Foundation provide major funding for the program, which, over the last year, distributed more than 1,000 car seats to families in the community.

Dean is a graduate of the University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree in child development. She resides in Fairlawn with her husband and their two children.
