Akron Children’s receives accreditation for continuing medical education

Akron Children’s Hospital has been surveyed by the Ohio State Medical Association Focused Task Force on Accreditation and has been awarded accreditation for four years as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians.

The review was in October 2010 and the accreditation period expires in October 2014. The OSMA accreditation seeks to assure both physicians and the public that continuing medical education activities developed by Akron Children’s meet the high standards of the essential areas, elements and polices of accreditation specified by the OSMA.

“The OSMA has very high standards and Akron Children’s is very pleased to once again receive accreditation,” says Doug Moses, MD, chairman of Akron Children’s CME Committee. “Education is an important part of Akron Children’s mission.”

Akron Children’s offers continuing medical education through weekly grand rounds, visiting professor programs and medical conferences focusing on topics such as pediatric infectious disease, sports medicine and orthopedics, and adolescent health.

Upcoming conferences include the 31st Annual Pediatric Update for the Practicing Physician on April 13 and the 5th Annual Development, Behavior and Emotions Conference: Enhancing Care in the Medical Home on May 6 at Akron Children’s campus in downtown Akron. In addition, the 10th Annual Child Advocacy Center Training will be held on May 6 at Akron Children’s Beeghly Campus in Boardman.
