Akron Children’s welcomes Jessica Castonguay, DO, as an adolescent medicine specialist.
Dr. Castonguay joins Akron Children’s Division of Adolescent Medicine and will be seeing patients on the Akron campus.
She has a special interest in the multi-disciplinary treatment of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, as well as the healthcare of adolescent girls and young adult women, such as the treatment of irregular, heavy or painful periods, contraception and care for sexually-transmitted infections.
After graduating from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, W.Va., Dr. Castonguay completed her pediatrics residency at Doctors Hospital and the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. She completed her adolescent medicine fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and earned a master’s of public health with specialization in clinical and translational science from the Ohio State University.
Akron Children’s Division of Adolescent Medicine provides primary care services for preteens and teens, including physicals and preventative services; dermatologic care; treatment for school concerns, substance abuse, eating disorders and sexually-transmitted disease; routine gynecologic care and contraceptive services. Services are offered in downtown Akron and at the Boardman Medical Pavilion.
Specialists from adolescent medicine and hematology also partner to offer the Young Women’s Bleeding Disorder Clinic, which offers diagnosis and treatment for excessive menstrual bleeding, which, in some cases, is caused by a platelet disorder.
