Models needed for American Girl Fashion Show® to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley

Models needed for American Girl Fashion Show®

Plans are underway and models are being sought for a series of American Girl Fashion Show® events, which will be held on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9 at Antone’s Banquet Centre in Boardman.

Show times are 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. Proceeds from the shows, presented by the Kids’ Crew of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, will benefit local programs and services of the hospital.

The Kids’ Crew is seeking local girls who are interested in modeling for the American Girl Fashion Shows ®. Models must by a size 10 or size 6x in order to wear the clothing provided by American Girl®. There will also be a limited number of modeling opportunities for girls of other sizes, but models must purchase their own outfit from a list of pre-approved selections.

Approximately 50 models are needed for each of the four fashion shows. Modeling opportunities are open to the public. Models will be selected based on their poise, confidence, stage presence and resemblance to an American Girl® doll (visit to view the dolls). Girls must attend one of the Model Calls to be considered. Model Calls for girls interested in modeling in the shows will take place at the following times:
• Sunday, Jan. 19- anytime between 1 and 4 p.m.
• Wednesday, Jan. 22- anytime between 4 and 7 p.m.
• Saturday, Jan. 25- anytime between 1and 4 p.m.

Model Calls will be held in the Community Room, which is located on the first floor of Building C on the Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market Street in Boardman. Potential models must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring the completed application form, plus a full-length color photo to the Model Call. The materials can be accessed at or by calling 330-746-8712.

Once selected, models must be available to attend a fitting on Feb. 8, as well as rehearsals on March 1 and March 8, in addition to their assigned show time. There is no fee to audition, but once selected, each girl who wishes to participate in the show will be required to pay a $25 model registration fee (due at model fitting).

The American Girl Fashion Show® is a fun, engaging program that combines education, fashion and goodwill, creating a memorable experience for families. Matching outfits for girls and their dolls are featured as the audience enjoys the interactive and stylish showcase of historical and contemporary fashions. Audiences will delight in historical clothing, from daywear to sleepwear to special-occasion clothing that resembles what popular American Girl characters Kaya, Josefina, Addy, Rebecca, Kit, Molly and Julie might have worn. Contemporary “My American Girl” outfits for older girls and sweet Bitty Baby fashions for little ones complete the program. Local children will serve as models and will present the fashions, while lively commentary, music and decorations will create a memorable experience for girls and their families.

The American Girl Fashion Show® events will also include refreshments, with a tea party theme, favors, door prizes, and fabulous raffles featuring American Girl merchandise. Tickets are $30 per person and can be ordered by calling 330-746-8712 or visiting Sponsorship opportunities, program book ads and VIP family tables are also available.
