Pre-season basic health screenings for middle and high school students are now being offered for $30 at Akron Children’s Hospital Pediatrics Brecksville office for the 2012-2013 school year.
Screenings will be performed on May 19, 8:30 a.m.-noon, and May 21, 5-8 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Call 440-526-4543 or register at akronchildrens.org/screening.
Akron Children’s board-certified pediatricians Dr. Mark Evans and Carrie Bohenick, as well as board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner Julie Tsirambidis will perform evaluations based on Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) requirements and do not intend for the exam to replace a thorough annual physical by the child’s pediatrician.
Participants are encouraged to bring their completed OHSAA form, which can also be printed from Akron’s Children’s registration website.
The staff encourages families to beat the summer-time rush. Students will have a chance to win an iTunes gift card too, according to Registered Nurse Robin Rising.
