Do your kids eat healthy? If not, teach them how.
According to pediatrician Sabrina Ben-Zion, MD, eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle is a family affair. “And it can be fun,” says the mother of two who cares for the children of Wadsworth at Akron Children’s Hospital Pediatrics.
Dr. Ben-Zion and Sharon Jaeger, MS, RD, LD, a dietitian from Medina County Health Department are teaming up to offer a free session about healthy eating and nutrition for children on Wed., April 17, 6 p.m., at the Wadsworth office. Registration is not required.
“Our goal is to teach parents how they can instill healthy habits in children that will last a lifetime,” said Jaeger.
The interactive session will offer tips and simple ideas families can do to increase healthy eating while encouraging children to make healthy choices for themselves.
Jaeger will also discuss the 5-2-1-0 guideline, which has been shown to help people prevent obesity, maintain a healthy weight and improve their overall well-being. The guideline recommends:
