Cooperative Medical Technology Program Structure

The medical technology (clinical laboratory science) course begins annually in July, covers a 51-week period, and is divided into 2 semesters. Each semester is divided into 2 phases.

Phase I is housed at Akron Children's Hospital and includes student laboratory and lecture experiences. Faculty from all 3 hospitals participate in Phase I instruction.

The clinical laboratory experiences in Phase II blend with case study presentations, updates on selected topics, and discussions of professional issues. The curriculum is designed so each student will spend time in each of the 3 hospital laboratories during Phase II.
