Cause for rejection: Excessively hemolyzed, lipemic, or grossly contaminated specimen. Drawn in incorrect tube. QNS.

Storage: Refrigerated

Availability: Mon, Wed, Fri (0800-1700)

Methodology: Macroscopic latex agglutination

Special Instructions: Cannot be performed on CSF or Cord blood. Reactive specimens will be titered and Syphilis IgG (T. pallidum) confirmation test performed. A Positive Syphilis IgG will be reported to ODH and physician notified. False positives may occur in certain disease states.
