Under Dr. Jeffrey Hordís leadership, Akron Childrenís now ranks in the top 1/3 of pediatric cancer centers in the U.S., in terms of the number of new cancer cases treated each year. Dr. Hord has served as a national spokesperson for many topics regarding childhood cancer and blood disorders, such as exertional sickling in athletes. In fact, the NCAA used Dr. Hord for its video on this topic, which it distributed to colleges nationwide. He also was quoted in the Wall Street Journal in the winter of 2011 about the shortage of pediatric cancer drugs.
