Overview

The Pediatric Hand and Upper Extremity Clinic at Akron Children’s Hospital evaluates and treats patients with congenital differences of the upper extremity as well as acquired and traumatic disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow. We see patients with extra digits (polydactyly), webbed or joined fingers (syndactyly), cerebral palsy, joint contractures, amniotic band syndrome as well as other genetic or hereditary conditions affecting the hand or upper extremity.

Our physicians and therapists offer a host of treatment options including casting, bracing and therapeutic modalities. At times, reconstructive procedures, including nerve repair, tendon repairs or transfers, fracture fixation, skeletal lengthening and microvascular surgery are used in the care of our patients.

For patients with athletic injuries of the hand, wrist and elbow, our staff works closely with our colleagues in Sports Medicine and Sports Rehabilitation.  This helps optimize recovery and return to play for these young athletes.
