Information About Undescended Testicles

(also known as Cryptorchidism)

Undescended testicles occur when one or both testicles fail to move down into the scrotum shortly before birth. If a boy's testicle has not descended on its own within the first year of life, he typically undergoes surgery to correct the condition. Without treatment, undescended testicles can affect fertility and lead to other medical problems such as hernias.
